Portland investor Nitin Rai named chairman of TiE Global, international entrepreneur group
Nitin Rai, one of the most vocal advocates for Portland startups, is the new chairman of the international entrepreneurship group TiE Global.
Founder of First Insight Corp., which makes electronic medical records technology for the eye care sector, Rai, 53, has been active for years in TiE’s Oregon chapter. The organization mentors, educates and funds entrepreneurs.
Oregon startups he or TiE have been active in supporting include GlobeSherpa, Geoloqi, HubbHemex, Health, Rfpio, Dyrt, Heritage Labs, Hue Noir, Goumikids, Gustave A Larson Company, Garden Bar, SheerID, Versi, Heritage Labs, Cascade Pro Drug, Handful and Nemametrix.
Additionally, Rai has helped lead startup incubators and a city-backed fund to support a diverse set of Portland entrepreneurs.
Founded in Silicon Valley in 1992 by entrepreneurs with roots in South Asia, TiE now has 60 chapters around the world.
