TYE – TiE Young Entrepreneurs
TiE Young Entrepreneurs is focused on fostering entrepreneurship among the youth. The program is focused on high school students. This year 28 TiE Chapters will be sending teams to the TYE Global Finals in Boston, to be held on 21-22 June 2019. Multiple chapters hosted their regional finals this month.
TiE Kerala conducted TYE (TiE YoungEntrepreneurs) – Chapter level Business Plan Competition on Saturday, 12th January 2019 at The Kerala Management Association Hall, Kochi. The TYE Business Plan Competition is a part of TiE Global TYE initiative. The duration of the program in Kerala was from September 2018 to January 2019.
Nine teams participated in the TYE initiative this year. The Chapter level competition was conducted on 12th January. The judges selected top three teams and they were awarded cash prizes, trophies and certificates. A team from Global Public School won the Frist Prize at the Competition and will be representing TiE Kerala at the TYE Global Finals in Boston, USA.
TYE Uttar Pradesh
Bangalore conducted its first batch of TYE this year and hosted the local competition with five teams pitching for the regional title.
Innopreneurship Bootcamp held for Rural SMEs, startups and micro entrepreneurs in Jamshoro (Pakistan).
TiE Islamabad is the national technical partner for Empower Youth for Work (EYW) project. It is being implemented in four countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Ethiopia in partnership with IKEA Foundation and Oxfam. As a result of this partnership, TiE Islamabad has built Innovation Hubs in Layyah and Jamshoro; rural towns that are vulnerable to climate change, and through these hubs TiE Islamabad is working to develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem in these cities.
TiE London Awards and Gala Dinner
TiE London hosted a Gala Dinner to celebrate the launch of the TiE London Awards. The evening began with an interview with Rajeev Misra, CEO of Softbank’s Vision Fund, in conversation with Nina Amin (TiE London President). He gave insight into the vision behind the largest technology fund ever raised of almost $100 billion and talked about some of the disruptive technologies they are investing in. This was followed by Nitin Ganatra, the evening’s compare, taking the helm to introduce the much-anticipated Awards.
Serial tech entrepreneur, Vin Murria OBE took the title of “Woman of the Year” and Highbrow co-founder Priyanka Raswant won “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” for her inspirational on-demand video platform for children’s educational content. The award for the “Fastest Growing business” went to The Indo UK Institute of Health. Entrepreneur of the Year winner went to hotelier Surinder Arora.
Interpreneur of the year, an award celebrating the entrepreneurial spirits in the corporate world, was awarded to Sujata Rastogi of HSBC. The Chairman’s Award was presented by Lord Jitesh Gadhia to Dr Noorpuri founder of i-GP, an innovative digital healthcare company.
TiE Hubli organised TiECon 2019 on January 25th and 26th 2019. Day 1 was the Women Conclave and Day 2 was the TiEcon business conference. It brought together successful entrepreneurs, top professionals, practitioners, academicians, and innovators from across the country to focus on the theme “Embrace Disruption”. More than 2500 people attended the conference with about 40% of attendees being women Entrepreneurs from nearby districts including Manipal, Udupi, Mangalore and Bangalore.
The event concluded with – An Evening with Sadhguru. Sadhguru is the founder of Isha Foundation” and the evening event attracted a gathering of 10000 + people.
The 10th TiEcon Mumbai was organised on 5th & 6th February 2019. It opened on a strong note with speakers emphasizing the role of startups in transforming India by creating innovation in the last mile and focusing on quality. The two-day Leadership Conclave had keynote sessions, parallel workshops, pitch sessions, Startup clinic roundtables, Expo, etc.
With over 110 speakers the conference was a melting pot of entrepreneurial ecosystem with over 1800 delegates, including Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Corporates, Industry Leaders, Regulators, Government bodies & related Departments. TiEcon Mumbai also hosted over 100+ curated startup pitches to investors.
